A look at a swirling retro carnival ride in motion.

Mamiya C330 80mm Kodak EPD 6036 (Ektachrome Prof E200) Caldwell, Texas c 1998

This is a fun look with that county fair vibe back from 1998. This film stock is no longer available unfortunately, but the readily available Kodak E100 Ektachrome is and I’m sure would give equal-to or better-than results.

I shifted in these later years to shooting more negative films like Ektar and Portra, but I am always surprised how snappy the chromes are that I shot. I’ve got some Velvia in the freezer just itching to get loaded up into the C330 or the Bronica SQ!

This exposure, from guesswork as I did not keep tech notes, is probably a 1 sec at f8 or around there. This, of course, was a tripod-mounted camera capture, and even with the slow shutter speed the people in the picture remain relatively sharp (people plural…you have to zoom in to see the ghost.) I’ve always loved the sky rendering in chrome films, and particularly at night with the dark-blue render.
