An interesting shot using Cinestill 800T film.

In a previous post about Kodak re-formulating their Vision 3 cinematography film, of which Cinestill 800T and 50D are derived from with the remjet removed, I commented that I wasn’t really a fan of the halo effect that comes with these films.
Because the anti-halation remjet has been removed, the films have a propensity to show red halos around bright lights, and I’ve found this to be distracting in many images. But this is one image that it seemed to work well for. The overall color rendering of the 800T is superb (IMO).
This time exposure of (likely) one second or more captured passing vehicle tail lights as red streaks, with a minor amount of haloing in them. This of course was shot with the camera mounted on a tripod, unlike a few of the other motion capture pictures I have posted using hand-held techniques.
So with the reformulation of Vision 3 to include an embedded anti-halation layer (no remjet), I have to believe the days of halo effect with Cinestill’s offering are coming to a (sad) close. I will continue to use these films though for their what I called “Dreamy Creamy” colors, and will eagerly await the new offerings when they are released.
