A view of life at the county fair.

This is a favorite of mine and really has that small-town county fair vibe. One thing I like is the motion of the people walking toward the camera, but the “carney” in the stall is sharp, and notice the young boy in the background looking at the camera. A convergence of luck.

To get this image, I was shooting with camera on a tripod and had a cable release connected. Setting the shutter speed to (I think) 1/8 second assured some blur motion. I composed the scene and then stepped away from the camera and just waited for possible best shots and took 3-4 frames over a minute or two.

Not looking into the camera is one technique to get some interesting street-style photography. Subjects may think they are not being photographed and have a more natural vibe.
