One of the aspects of film photography that I feel is important and may be overlooked by some is that it gives us a generally permanent, lasting record that can be touched and seen. Digital photos can be seen, but they are ephemeral in relation to the film images you can actually hold and look at, and put into physical storage.

One important slice of history that modern film photography impacted was the Bill Clinton / Monica Lewinsky scandal. An all-important image that connected the dots between the infamous characters of this episode in history was caught on film. And ignored and forgotten. Until it was time to un-forget.

Read about the shot seen ’round the world.

So even today, as film continues a resurgence, it is likely that sometime, somewhere, an important image that was shot on film and not lost to time, will become another important part of history.

Keep on shooting! Analog. Touch it, Feel it!
