Show motion and get a sharp image hand-held.
Blurred motion adds some depth to photos and is typically done using a slower shutter speed (1/15 or 1/8 sec) with the camera on a tripod. But this image was taken without a tripod. How?
It is possible to take motion-blur pictures without a tripod if you have a steady hand and shoot with a wide-angle lens. In this image shot with a Contax G1 28mm lens, the main subject is a truck crossing the intersection and is blurred, while the background street view is still relatively sharp.

It all come down to the distance from the lens. Holding the camera steady will keep the background image relatively sharp (distance) while the closer subject (truck) will amplify the slow shutter speed.
